King David certainly has many challenges in his life. Some of his difficulties were self-inflicted and other difficulties were because, I believe was the call of God on his life. His throne would be eternal.  King David was not a perfect. He had many flaws that Satan would try to exploit in every way. He delivered Israel from Goliath only to be pursued by a jealous father-in-law king. Once he became King, he was extremely successful in ruling until he was in a place he shouldn’t have been. Samuel tells the story this way in 1 Samuel 11:1 (ESV)

“In the spring of the year, the time when kings go out to battle, David sent Joab, and his servants with him, and all Israel. And they ravaged the Ammonites and besieged Rabbah. But David remained at Jerusalem.

Because David wasn’t where he should’ve been, he opened himself to temptation which eventually led to adultery ending in murder. No matter how he tried to cover up it up, God would have not of it. He sent Nathan the prophet to confront David (2 Samuel 12). To David’s credit, He immediately confessed and repented. (Psalm 51).

This is such an encouragement for us today. None of the “Luciferian” worldly leadership will escape the judgment of God. They will all give an account for their scandal and sin.

God is still on the throne and the earth still belongs to Him. Even His delay in justice and judgment is because of His goodness, 2 Peter 3:9 (ESV) declares this so.

“The Lord is not slow to fulfill his promise as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should reach repentance.”

It is the goodness of God the brings people to repentance. Romans 2:4

“Or do you presume on the riches of his kindness and forbearance and patience, not knowing that God's kindness is meant to lead you to repentance”.

The wonderful thing is that God is also in the business of restoration. God completely restored David. The future king of Israel would come from the womb of the one he committed adultery with. God is so good. There were consequences of course of decisions made and discipline not handed out. Absalom never forgave his dad for not dealing with Amon for raping his sister Tamar. In fact, he tried to steal the throne that wasn’t his and ended up costing his life.

I believe that the days ahead are going to be the best of times and the worst of times.

We’re going to see the wicked exposed and judged and the Spirit being poured out in setting the captives free.

We must remember that God is good all the time. His heart is always towards us. No matter what, keep your heart pure and pressing into His goodness. He is preparing you to rule with Him. 2 Corinthians 4:17-18.

For this light momentary affliction is preparing for us an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison, 18 as we look not to the things that are seen but to the things that are unseen. For the things that are seen are transient, but the things that are unseen are eternal.
