I was meditating upon the majesty of God today and suddenly, I received a revelation of why it is so necessary for the day we live in. Lets first lay a background for where we are going. The first scripture I want to look at Is Isaiah 6:1-8
“In the year that King Uzziah died I saw the Lord sitting upon a throne, high and lifted up; and the train of his robe filled the temple. 2 Above him stood the seraphim. Each had six wings: with two he covered his face, and with two he covered his feet, and with two he flew. 3 And one called to another and said:
“Holy, holy, holy is the Lord of hosts; the whole earth is full of his glory!”
4 And the foundations of the thresholds shook at the voice of him who called, and the house was filled with smoke. 5 And I said: “Woe is me! For I am lost; for I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips; for my eyes have seen the King, the Lord of hosts!”6 Then one of the seraphim flew to me, having in his hand a burning coal that he had taken with tongs from the altar. 7 And he touched my mouth and said: “Behold, this has touched your lips; your guilt is taken away, and your sin atoned for.”8 And I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?” Then I said, “Here I am! Send me.” 9 And he said, “Go, and say to this people:
A powerful portion of scripture. For one to get the full picture, one must understand who King Uzziah was. Uzziah, also spelled Ozias, also called Azariah, orAzarias, in the Old Testament (2 Chronicles 26), son and successor of Amaziah, and king of Judah for 52 years (c. 791–739 BC).
Assyrian records indicate that Uzziah reigned for 42 years (c. 783–742). His reign marked the height of Judah’s power. He fought successfully against other nations and exacted tribute from the Ammonites. Judah expanded westward with settlements in Philistia. During the period of Uzziah’s reign, the nation prospered, and desert areas were reclaimed by water conservation. Jerusalem’s walls were reconstructed, towers were added, and engines of war were mounted at strategic points. A large army was also maintained. The nation’s prosperity under Uzziah was considered to have been a result of the king’s fidelityto Yahweh. According to the biblical record, Uzziah’s strength caused him to become proud, which led to his destruction. He attempted to burn incense in the Temple, an act restricted to priests. When the priests attempted to send him from the Temple, the king became angry and was immediately stricken with leprosy. His son Jotham ruled for his father until Uzziah died. Pride brought the downfall of this King and the eventual destruction of Judah. I’ve heard it said that the test of prosperity is a much more difficult test to pass than the test of poverty.
The next portion of scripture I want to look at is Revelation 1:9-20 (ESV)
I, John, your brother and partner in the tribulation and the kingdom and the patient endurance that are in Jesus, was on the island called Patmos on account of the word of God and the testimony of Jesus. 10 I was in the Spirit on the Lord's day, and I heard behind me a loud voice like a trumpet11 saying, “Write what you see in a book and send it to the seven churches, to Ephesus and to Smyrna and to Pergamum and to Thyatira and to Sardis and to Philadelphia and to Laodicea .”
12 Then I turned to see the voice that was speaking to me, and on turning I saw seven golden lampstands, 13 and in the midst of the lampstands one like a son of man, clothed with a long robe and with a golden sash around his chest. 14 The hairs of his head were white, like white wool, like snow. His eyes were like a flame of fire, 15 his feet were like burnished bronze, refined in a furnace, and his voice was like the roar of many waters. 16 In his right hand he held seven stars, from his mouth came a sharp two-edged sword, and his face was like the sun shining in full strength.17 When I saw him, I fell at his feet as though dead. But he laid his right hand on me, saying, “Fear not, I am the first and the last, 18 and the living one. I died, and behold I am alive forevermore, and I have the keys of Death and Hades. 19 Write therefore the things that you have seen, those that are and those that are to take place after this. 20 As for the mystery of the seven stars that you saw in my right hand, and the seven golden lampstands, the seven stars are the angels of the seven churches, and the seven lampstands are the seven churches.
In Isaiah, the majesty of the Lord is revealed to the messenger, Isaiah to bring alignment to the nation of Israel. In Revelation, the majesty of the Lord is revealed to the messenger, John to bring proper alignment to the church. In both cases, everyone and every church is brought into alignment. This revelation of Christ’s majesty is the plumbline so that His correction and judgement can come first to His beloved and then to the rest of the nations. It’s the revelation that is the foundation of the church that Jesus told Peter about. The enemy has no chance. The gates of hell cannot prevail against the majesty of the Lord. This is the revelation we’re asking the Lord for. The majesty that causes false foundations of the false church to crumble and fall. Most of Christendom today focuses way too much Christ’s humanity to make Him more relational and “user friendly”. I believe the opposite is necessary. We need a revelation of His majesty. It was this revelation that birthed both awakenings in our nation that had a profound effect on the culture. It is said that when Jonathan Edwards read his sermon “Sinners in the Hand of an Angry God”, there were over 2500 people “slain in the Spirit” and paralyzed because of the fear of the Lord. Taverns and brothels were completely shut down, never to open again. There must be a revelation of His majesty if we are to see our nation be restored to its destiny. It must start in the house of the Lord first, 1 Peter 4:17 (ESV)
For it is time for judgment to begin at the household of God; and if it begins with us, what will be the outcome for those who do not obey the gospel of God?
Would you join me in focused and dedicated prayer for this revelation to happen in our lifetime? It is our only hope! “Come Lord Jesus in the fulness of your glory. Touch the church masses and bring them into proper alignment to your Name. Then we will see a fulfillment of Revelation 14:6-7 (ESV);
“Then I saw another angel flying directly overhead, with an eternal gospel to proclaim to those who dwell on earth, to every nation and tribe and language and people. 7 And he said with a loud voice, “Fear God and give him glory, because the hour of his judgment has come, and worship him who made heaven and earth, the sea and the springs of water.”
For it is written in Romans 14:11 (ESV)
“for it is written,
“As I live, says the Lord, every knee shall bow to me,
and every tongue shall confess to God.”
